Senior Linux Administrator

The Sr. Linux System Administrator is expected to build, install, configure, support and troubleshoot Linux server systems deployed in highly virtualized environments throughout the globe.  USAN maintains co-lo data-center and cloud based solutions.

Responsibilities

Build, install, configure, support and troubleshoot Linux server systems.

The ideal candidate will have experience with CentOS and HP Proliant hardware based systems including but not limited to assembling the hardware, loading/patching the OS, updating firmware, and installing / managing open source software systems.  USAN’s Sr. Linux admin will need to be familiar with building and maintain DNS zone files.  USAN’s Sr. Linux Admin will need to maintain Linux system sconfigured with IP Tables, Apache, and other open source solutions.

Duties

  • Install, configure, optimize and maintain Linux based OS
  • Research, compile, install, and configure 3rd party and open source projects as required
  • Maintain DNS Zone files
  • Install, configure, and maintain IP Tables
  • Develop / modify existing shell and Perl scripts to automate various system administration tasks
  • Maintain and administer USAN’s Enterprise Linux based backup solution
  • Provide 3rd level support which may include debugging and on-call afterhours support as required
  • Create gold images for remote deployment

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on Linux/Unix System Administrator experience
  • Four year BS degree in computer science or related technical field
  • Experience with building HP Proliant hardware based systems, which may include assembling the hardware, loading, patching the OS as well as third party and open source applications
  • Experience implementing DNS, IP tables and Squid into production
  • Exposure to real time applications
  • Proficiency with SIP
  • Solid understanding of TCP/IP
  • Exposure to Linux OS based security measures
  • Experience with VMWare, Hyper-V and other virtualization products

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Red Hat certified
  • Backbone Enterprise backup software will be a plus.
  • Ability to work with additional scripting languages, such as Perl and PHP
  • Exposure to AWS / Azure cloud environments
  • Exposure to Backbone Enterprise backup software
  • Experience with anti-spam and web proxy products
  • Experience with Tomcat, Asterisk, and VoIP
  • Experience as a Microsoft Windows System administrator
