The Senior Network Engineer is expected to assume the implementation, management, and troubleshooting of USAN’s routers, switches, firewalls, Internet, and extranet connections. Currently, USAN has deployed network elements from Cisco. The Senior Network Engineer will have to understand the use of service networks and multi-tiered DMZ’s in a LAN/WAN topology.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about network architectures, value challenging technical situations, and enjoy delivering results to clients.

Technical Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, test, and troubleshoot USAN’s routers, switches, and firewalls
  • Maintain and manage a LAN/WAN network, ensuring connectivity between all datacenters and client extranets
  • Directing the Network Engineering team on various implementations and producing diagrams
  • Support before, during, and after network cutovers and change to the environment
  • Programming and troubleshooting USAN’s layer-2 and layer-3 switching hardware
  • Programming and troubleshooting routing equipment from Cisco
  • Third level support for all of USAN’s network and firewall related issues

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of strong Cisco networking experience
  • 5+ years of firewall engineering
  • BS in Computer Science or related engineering/technical degree
  • Knowledge of protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, MPLS, DHCP, SNMP, etc)
  • Experience with internal, extranet, and public internet connections delivered via a variety of carrier facilities (point-to-point circuits, MPLS, frame relay, Ethernet, etc.)
  • Professional experience in designing, deploying and troubleshooting routed networks using Cisco routers as well as layer-2 and layer-3 switching products
  • Proficient in provisioning Cisco’s ASA family of products and other routing equipment in an environment encompassing private internal networks, customer-business partner connectivity, and multi-homed internet connectivity

Preferred Qualifications

  • CCNP and/or CCIE certified
  • Customer service experience: consultative approach, and demonstrated solid judgment, ethics, and professionalism
  • Experience with VOIP
  • Experience with networking virtualized server systems in a large data center environment
